The two major “wear out” items on a power supply are electrolytic capacitors and fans. Shown here TDK-Lambda compares a competitor’s fan cooled unit with the convection cooled CUS250. The CUS250 has very acceptable capacitor lifetimes, but when the fan life of the competitor’s unit is also considered, the benefit of a fan-less unit becomes very obvious.
