Image of STMicroelectronics ASM330LHB Automotive 6-Axis Inertial ModuleSTMicroelectronics' ASM330LHB is a 3-axis digital accelerometer and 3-axis digital gyroscope system-in-package (SiP) with a digital I²C, SPI, and MIPI I³C serial interface standard output, performing at 1.3 mA in combo high-performance mode. This device, used in redundancy (as two modules) and in combination with a dedicated software library, has been evaluated as compatible to be adopted in ASIL-B automotive applications.

The solution compatible with ASIL-B application comprises two hardware elements defined as components off the shelf (COTS) and a software library developed according to ISO 26262. A certification of the ASIL-B compliancy of the software library is available.

The ASM330LHB has a full-scale acceleration range of up to ±16 g and a wide angular rate range up to ±4,000 dps, enabling its usage in a broad range of automotive applications. The device supports dual operating modes: high-performance mode and low-power mode. All the design aspects of the ASM330LHB have been optimized to reach superior output stability, extremely low noise, and full data synchronization to the benefit of sensor-assisted applications like dead reckoning and sensor fusion.

The ASM330LHB is available in a small plastic land grid array package (LGA-14L) and is guaranteed to operate over an extended temperature range of -40°C to +105°C. This device is suitable for telematics, dead-reckoning applications, vehicle-to-vehicle (V2X), and impact detection due to its high stability over temperature and time combined with superior sensing precision .
