Launch of the i.MX 8M Mini/Nano Micro Qseven SOM Powering Artificial Intelligence Gateways and Industrial Modules

iWave Systems, a leader in embedded systems and solutions, will be launching a new system-on-module (SOM) based on the NXP® i.MX 8M Mini/Nano CPU in µQseven form factor. It will be the new addition to iWave's i.MX 8 SOM portfolio.

The µQseven V2.1 is a versatile small form factor computer module definition, targeting applications that require low power, low cost, and high performance. It is an ideal solution for space-constrained solutions. The µQseven SOM with on-board Wi-Fi and BLE 5.0 connectivity along with various interfaces, LINUX and Android BSP, powers innovation and drastically reduces time to market for organizations across sectors.

The i.MX 8M Mini/Nano µQseven SOM is aimed at applications such as low-power embedded and edge computing, ultra-compact and cost-effective industrial and IoT applications, equipment monitoring, digital signage, industrial HMI, home automation, audio/video streaming devices, general embedded applications, and many more. The modules are used as building blocks for portable and stationary embedded systems.

The core CPU support circuits, including DRAM, boot flash, power sequencing, CPU power supplies, GBE, CAN, LVDS/HDMI display transmitter, and Wi-Fi and Bluetooth are concentrated on the module. The modules are used with application-specific carrier boards that implement other features such as audio CODECs, SPI flash, a USB connector, an RJ45 jack, etc. The modular approach allows scalability, fast time to market and upgradability while still maintaining low costs, low power and small physical size. The µQseven SOM also features LPDDR4, eMMC and Ethernet PHY. The module PCB has 230 edge fingers that mate with a low-profile 230-pin 0.5 mm pitch right angle MXM-2 connector.

Being a nano ITX form factor with a 120 mm x 120 mm size, the board is highly packed with all the necessary on-board connectors to validate complete i.MX 8M Mini/Nano CPU features. The i.MX 8M Mini/Nano SOMs will be supported with both Linux and Android BSP.
